The Philanthropy Coordinator, Logan Sneed ’18, next to the new Project ALS Sign on the first base dugout
Hi my name is Logan Sneed. I’m leading our philanthropy efforts this year, along with the rest of the senior class, as we continue to raise money and awareness for ALS. I am honored and humbled to represent our team for such a deserving cause. To date, we have raised over $55,000 and look forward to continuing the progress that the other classes have made in reaching our ultimate goal of $100,000 for Project ALS.
Our Fall baseball season has ended and, based on the fall, the team is looking to be extremely competitive again this year. In addition to working on our game during the off-season, the Bullet baseball players will be doing their part to continue raising money and awareness for Project ALS. We have several events planned for this year including our 2nd annual “Take ALS Yard Homerun Derby” and our 6th annual Project ALS Day.
Our Homerun Derby is Sunday, November 5th and we are expecting it to be another big success. Last year several dozen Gettysburgians came out to support the cause and over $950 dollars was raised in the process! T-shirts will be sold and people will be able to register for the event this week in the CUB. The Homerun Derby will be an opportunity for Gettysburg students and faculty to take a shot in hitting one over the fence (on the softball field) while also supporting the team’s initiative to ‘Take ALS Yard’.
In the Spring our 6th annual Project ALS Day will provide us another opportunity to raise awareness for the deadly disease. Representatives from the Project ALS will visit to talk more about their efforts to raise money for research aimed at finding a cure for ALS.
