2021-22 Season Introduction

Hello Gettysburg Baseball friends and families!  We would like to introduce this year’s Take ALS Yard coordinators, seniors Matt Muir and Shane Manieri.  Both of us, along with the 6 other members of the senior class, are honored and excited to lead the team’s effort for such a deserving cause.  We look forward to competition this spring in addition to raising money and awareness about Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Last year was challenging both on and off the field, but it was our resiliency as a team that allowed us to succeed. Unfortunately, we were unable to hold a Take ALS Yard event in the fall, and with a lack of fans in attendance, we were unable to sell hats and shirts.  This year we plan on hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament that will be open to all Gettysburg College students.  In the past, this event had a huge turnout, and we are thrilled to be able to organize it again.  This event will allow us to introduce Take ALS Yard to our fellow students which can lead to increased awareness about ALS and our philanthropic efforts.

As we kickstart our 2021-22 campaign, we would like to first thank everyone whose donations allowed us to surpass the $100,000 goal for the team that was set in 2013. Currently, we have raised over $110,000 and looking forward to increasing that number throughout the year.

This spring we are thrilled to be able to welcome our Gettysburg College Baseball family back to Kirchhoff field to watch some Bullets baseball and, more importantly, join us on ‘Take ALS Yard Day’.  Throughout the entire season, we will be selling shirts and hats to aid our fundraising efforts.  The money we raise goes to Project ALS which funds ALS research. We hope you will help us raise money and awareness for ALS research in honor of Tommy Kirchhoff and Robert Borman, who are members of our Gettysburg Baseball Family.

We look forward to having a normal season once again and building on the foundation that the previous senior class laid for us. We would like to thank Coach Campo, Coach Perry, and the entire Gettysburg Baseball family for the continued support they have demonstrated toward Take ALS Yard throughout the years.
